In the future, our grandchildren will be told the story of how the Caliph saved the world from a Confederate Soldier named Hitler.

The “Lost Cause” view of the Civil War was thought up AFTER the war was lost and over. It began to spread along with the KKK and its nasty roots.

I salute the soldiers who fought for their homes and their states. Those who were not the elite slave holders of the Confederacy who stated even in the founding documents that the CSA and the war were about slavery and nothing more.

Do not kid yourself, the idea that this was about ‘state’s rights’ came long after the fighting was over.

Remember too that Lincoln when told of the surrender at Appomattax ordered the Marine band to strike up Dixie.

“With malice toward none, with charity for all.....”

The South wanted the right to be able to export their cotton to England, France and other places without it going to the New England textile Mills whom shipped cotton to other places and profited as the middleman.

When the Civil war started the south had no manufacturing ability to produce its own munitions. The south built many of its own munition factories in and around Richmond Virginia - Traflagar Iron Works

Oddly enough the graduates of West Point - the majority were from the south. Robert E. Lee was a Union Officer, he gave up his command to go back to his home - Washington and Lee - With the Civil War Lee’s home was seized by the Union and become what is today - Arlington Cemetery - a honor for soldiers whom served in the duty to country. The Union meant the Cemetery as an affront to Lee, but lee took it as am honor.

Will w see that Arlington cemetery , Washington and Lee University, the Virginia Military Institute become things of the pas to because they honored the Southern Cause of economic resistance to continue on in their way of life. If Slavery is really the issue - what about the families in the North that maintained slaves.

Be prepared for the racist to cry that the American Flag, washingtomn, Jefferson and many other founding fathers be stripped of being a Founding Father. In America are we prepared for Benjamin Franklin to be stripped of what good he did for America?

Seems like the Democrat Party lost the election of 1860 and then tried to destroy the country in one swell foop. Seems like they’ve been continuing the effort by other means ever since.

Are we supposed to be allies of the Democrat Party now?

This is some serious historical revisionism. The Confederacy’s founding principles were white supremacy and slavery. The spin that it was “really” about “states rights” and a struggle for liberty and freedom is complete, total fiction. A lot of this revisionism stems from an alternate history the former Confederate politicians started writing after being defeated to try to save face. You can look to the resolutions of secession and the words of the Confederacy’s founders at the time it was founded, not what they said after being defeated, as the proof of why they did what they did. The “oppression” they spoke of was in reference to failure of the Northern states in not cooperating in bringing back escaped slaves and their belief that there would be a push to make slavery illegal. You can easily look this up and read it. Objective facts matter - not legend.

Our Confederates are admired by the world to a degree seldom granted to lost causes. I find that thoughtful Europeans speak respectfully of the Confederacy, as did Winston Churchill. Foreigners have a great advantage in judging the right and wrong of the War between the States. They do not automatically assume that everything Yankees do and say is righteous, true, and unselfish. They view Yankees without the rose-coloured glasses with which Yankees view themselves.

How many foreigners does Clyde talk to lately?

Any of them much younger than himself?

And how many of them don't like any of what they call "Yankees" (including Clyde himself)?

When they say they don't like Yankees, Clyde, don't assume they're not talking about you.
