The clerk of Casey County, Kentucky is refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses despite the order of Democrat Gov. Steve Beshear.
During a private meeting, Beshear told county clerk Casey Davis Thursday that he should issue same-sex marriage licenses or resign, reports Kentucky.com. Davis said he is refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples because same-sex marriage is against his religious beliefs, and he is also refusing to resign his post.
Prior to meeting with Beshear, Davis said he was willing to go to jail for his religious beliefs.
If thats what it takes to express freedom of religion, Im willing to do this, the clerk said.

I think the first person to have to go to jail for this will cause (true)Christians in this country to finally realize what is at stake - and begin to be more courageous about standing up for God given liberties.
Give it right back at at 'em.
Resistance. That’s what it will take.
Mr. Davis and his family needs and deserves our support and prayers.
I applaud the civil disobedience.
Good for him. Maybe he’s what’s needed for the “Christian” America to awaken their conscience.
I applaud these people for standing up for what they believe in, but I also see the side that as government workers, they don’t have the right to not follow guidelines they are given by that government.
The courage of the Christian. Prayers and blessings and thanks to that Christian soldier.
I do too!! I pray I would have that love of Christ.
Instead of saying religious belief, he nigh say, the supreme court has no authority to make laws. They must be impeached.
We shall see but it is not readily observable to see Christian Churches do little more than complain, whatever one might call a “true” Christian one thing is certain to anyone who believes the gospel there really aren’t very many of them.
Good for him - we weren't saved to be doormats - Christians need to stand and fight, be vocal, be visible.
I won't back down or apologize for my faith - "I am not ashamed of the Gospel" (Romans 1:16)
We just left a “Seeker Friendly” Church about 2 years ago. They are the type of phonies who would never come to this clerks aid; after all, they might offend a potential new member by actually defending this person and the Gospel.
I applaud these people for standing up for what they believe in, but I also see the side that as government workers, they dont have the right to not follow guidelines they are given by that government.
What makes it even more interesting is that for the first 100+ years of our nation, this issue would’ve NEVER cropped up. Any homosexual demand to receive marriage licenses would’ve been met with shaming of the homosexual at the very least. I helped prosecute some of them myself just a few short years ago for the CRIME of homosexuality. So it’s not like this was handed down to Moses thousands of years ago. This is a “right” to depravity that our Founders would’ve never tolerated. In the earliest days of our republic, they were executed. Until very recently, they were shamed and imprisoned. But our culture now bows to the homosexual “god,” worshiping and fearing it. I worship and fear the Almighty God.
I think we've heard that one before, "I was just following orders" has been heard many a time before.
