Jeb Bush Proposes Requiring Medicare End-of-Life Directives
NY Times ^ | July 8, 2015 | Maggie Haberman

Posted on 07/09/2015 9:37:22 AM PDT by C19fan

Jeb Bush, defending his efforts to keep alive Terri Schiavo, a brain-damaged woman, when he was governor of Florida, suggested on Friday that patients on Medicare should be required to sign advance directives dictating their care if they become incapacitated.

A similar proposal by President Obama — that doctors should be paid to advise patients on end-of-life decisions — became a political firestorm in 2009, when Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and vice-presidential candidate, claimed that the legislation would give bureaucrats the power to decide if some frail or disabled people were deserving of medical care. The assertion was shown to be false.

Another issue Dauphin Bush and Obama agree on. Old people should be forced to sign their death warrants.

I’m sure Bush will exempt illegal immigrants from this requirement.

Just to be clear, it doesn’t matter to me who the Dem candidate is; there is no way on this earth I will vote for Jeb. Its not about his last name, its about him.

If you are a Bush supporter, please factor this in: there is a good chunk of the party that will sit this one out if you insist on running this guy. Please think about that.

I will never vote for Jeb Bush until and unless one of two things occurs:

1. He receives a verbal endorsement from a living Terri Schindler Schiavo.

or....

2. God Himself speaks to me from heaven and tells me to do it.

Number one can never happen, and number two is about as likely as Bill and Hillary Clinton becoming honest.

Since I’ve been eligible to vote I have never missed an election. If Jeb is the nominee, I will sit this one out. The guy is a disaster.

You start to wonder if Jeb is saying these things cause, on some level, he really wants no part of the presidency....or he’s as stupid as he looks. Either way, he’s an absolute joke.

Of course, he wants them to be exempt from all of our laws.
Illegal aliens use fraudulent documents to continue their illegal presence and break myriad laws daily. Yeb Bush only wants to talk about the first law breaking, illegal entry.

I keep waiting for him to explain why he killed Terri Sciavo.

From this, I guess his answer is, “she made do it by being so irresponsible as to not have a written end of life directive.”

Sorry, Jeb No-Last-Name, I want a direct explanation.

And you can bet that when Medicare sends these forms out to old folks, the only blanks to fill out will be for printed name and signature. The pre-printed text will say, “Doctor, please kill me as soon as you can.”

“”suggested on Friday that patients on Medicare should be required to sign advance directives dictating their care if they become incapacitated.””

Come on folks - ANYONE with a brain should have advance health directives as it’s not just senior citizens who can become incapacitated. They are easy enough to print from a computer with the legalities your state requires or can be requested from any number of agencies. My husband and I have completed several over the years according to the state where we live - being careful to destroy obsolete ones.

Jeb married an “illegal immigrant”, her father bringing her in from Mexico as a child. I remember when Jeb’s wife tried to bring in a fur coat and jewelry from Europe and tried to avoid the taxes on her purchases by claiming the items had been purchased in the U.S. and since they were her personal property she had brought to Europe with her, she wasn’t required to pay taxes for their re-entry, all this while Jeb was Florida’s Governor. Ending up having to pay a big fine...but no jail time.

I disagree....unless the directive is to let another person that you totally trust to make all decisions if you are incapacitated. These “end of life” decisions can be made when people are NOT at their end of life, but the doctor makes the decision that they are. I know.

My mother would have been dead had I not intervened in doctor/hospital decisions after they claimed that she had only hours to a couple of days to live. They were killing her based on something she and my brother signed that neither understood. That was 9 months ago. She’s still kicking.

Her parents were willing to take over all of her bills. Her parents tended to her every day! The ‘rights’ of the HINO (Husband in Name Only) to kill her seemed to trump everything else.

It’s maddening! I feel so sorry for her folks. What a nightmare to go through!

If I'm forced by the government to do one of these advance directives, I'm gonna demand that every imaginable treatment ever invented be used without limitation of expense, be used to keep my carcass alive till the second coming if possible!!!

When will these GovernMental/EnvironMentalist interventionists ever stop trying to control every aspect of our live through the pure FORCE of government whim??? It's getting REVOLTING!!!
