Women are the next frontier in the firearms industry. Over the past few years, women have become the fastest growing demographic of gun owners. They’re responsible for the surge in gun ownership in states like Colorado, and women are lining up across the country for their concealed carry permits. This isn’t a new phenomenon. While the liberal urban-based elite–and their allies in the media–view gun owners as a group comprised mostly of white, conservative men, Louisa Fitzgerald wrote on the feminist site Jezebel that women gun owners often “defy stereotypes.”

Women are good shots. Maybe it’s their eyes or sumping. When I took a pistol course, the best shot there was a woman. She was also an IRS agent (they cannot legally carry guns) and that news did wonders for my blood pressure ;-)

A few years ago, I talked my wife into going shooting with me, and darn if she didn't out-shoot me! We ended up getting our CPLs together, and I got her a Glock 42 for our anniversary last year.

I taught my New Jersey bride to shoot in New Mexico 43 years ago. She shocked me. She did just what I told her to. No preconceived notions or bad habits. Just steel on target. I have rested easy every since knowing she could take care of herself.

My Dad started all us cousins shooting rifles while Mom and the aunties prepared Thanksgiving dinner.
My husband is the expert marksman, and his eldest daughter followed him in his footsteps. We went to the range over the weekend. I made a few bulls eyes but hit the target with each shot.

Every woman I’ve taught to shoot has shot far better than most men with far more experience.

I think it’s the same reason they tend to learn golf more quickly too - they aren’t trying to macho their way through things, feeling they have to prove something.

They listen to instructions carefully, and follow them to a T.

Wife and daughters are perfect examples. First time wife ever laid a finger on a trigger, she put 5 rounds in a 1” group at 75’ with a scoped .22 rifle in the prone position. Two daughters did the same, with one slightly better than another, with a Ruger .22 Single Six at 7 yards standing in a Weaver stance.

I happened to be checking out demographics of CCW not too long ago. In Florida, over the last few years, women have gone from being 15% of CCW holders to 25%, and growing.
