New Rule Aims to Diversify Neighborhoods

The Department of Housing and Urban Development is tightening enforcement of fair housing laws by requiring cities to identify persistent patterns of racial bias in their communities and work to eliminate them, Housing Secretary Julian Castro said Wednesday.

"We must give every young person access to a community of opportunity," Castro said. "We can do that by revitalizing struggling communities and by giving people the chance to live in areas where they can thrive; all with local leadership deciding what strategies work best for them and their needs."

"Policy makers at the local level now have a stronger tool for how they can bring about equal opportunity for their communities," Castro said. "A zip code should never prevent anyone from reaching their aspirations."

Severe monetary penalties for those failing to comply, no doubt.

It used to be that you accessed “the community of opportunity” by studying, working hard, making yourself useful, and succeeding.

I guess that model is obsolete, like so many other elements of American society.

“giving people the chance to live in areas where they can thrive; all with local leadership deciding what strategies work best for them and their needs.”

Like the scene in Doctor Zhivago where the proletariat takes over the house of the Zhivagos.

Julian, let’s start with your block first.

.....aaaand if your house has more than one bedroom, you have to integrate brothers and give them rent free accommodations in your unused bedrooms and house.

BLOCK BUSTING Wikpedia

The term “blockbusting” might have originated in Chicago, Illinois, where, in order to accelerate the emigration of economically successful racial minority residents to better neighborhoods beyond the ghettos, real estate companies and building developers used agents provocateurs — non-white people hired to deceive the white residents of a neighborhood into believing that black people were moving into the neighborhood, thereby encouraging them to quickly sell (at a loss) and emigrate to generally more racially homogeneous suburbs. Blockbusting was most prevalent on the West Side and South Side of Chicago.

The tactics included hiring black women to be seen pushing baby carriages in white neighborhoods, so encouraging white fear of devalued property; selling a house to a black family in a middle-class white neighborhood to provoke white flight, before the community’s properties decline considerably; selling white neighborhood houses to black families, and afterwards placing real estate agent business cards in the neighbors’ mailboxes; and saturating the neighborhood area with fliers offering quick-cash for houses. Likewise, building developers bought houses and dwelling buildings, and left them unoccupied to make the neighborhood appear abandoned — like a ghetto or a slum — psychological manipulation that usually frightened the remaining white residents into selling at a loss. Blockbusting was very common and very profitable; for example, by 1962, when blockbusting had been practiced for some fifteen years, the city of Chicago had more than 100 real estate companies that had been, on average, “changing” between two to three blocks a week for years.[2]

Tactics used in the blockbusting in the Gresham neighborhood of Chicago included bricks thrown through front windows. Ten bricks through ten front windows were usually more than enough to get all white property owners to sell at sacrifices often surpassing eighty percent of the normal value of the property. I think the government should move all Obama voters, of whatever hue and creed, into the large cities, and especially into the blighted neighborhoods. After all, that is what they voted for when they supported him.

They can leave the rest of us alone.

Start with Obama’s Neighborhood in Chicago - Diversify it with some people whom are poor, and illiterate. Build the apartment complex across from Louis Farrahkhan. That will go over like a lead balloon in Obama’s neighborhood. This whole diversity issue is a line of crappola.

“We must give every young person access to a community of opportunity”

Liberals seem to think some land magically creates opportunity, and that it has nothing to do with the people who live there. Imagine If you stripped naked the citizens of Israel and fenced them all into Detroit. Then you moved all the citizens of Detroit into mansions in Beverly Hills.

In 10 years Detroit would become a prosperous city and Beverly Hills would be a run down, crime ridden ghetto.

This is about nothing more than Democrats trying to move Democrats into largely Republican districts and thereby completely change the VOTING districts. It is about POWER and CONTROL.

Obama is evil. He is a dictator and what he has done is 6 and a half years is appalling.

Now that liberal policies have been successful in destroying most cities the democrats are ready to take on suburbia and rural areas.

Your comment about the voting may be in jest, but it is exactly what this move is about. Democrats want to take money from Republican hand and give it to Democrats. That is always there position. Now they want to move Democrats into largely Republican districts to change the voting demographics. It is a blatant power grab. Inadvertently they will likely bring down house values and reduce local property tax revenues. Of course that will just mean a raising of rates to bring the dollar amount back up. It will be a DISASTER. But as long as Democrats can grab more power by changing the voting demographics, they don’t care about the rest.

[A wonderful Jewish community in Boston (Mattapan) was ruined by blockbusting.]

I Googled Mattapan. Apparently it is considered a classic case of blockbusting.

From an article in Jewish Voice:

[As one anonymous broker wrote concerning the block-busting games he played with his vulnerable clients: “And it got to a point that to have fun while we were working, we would try to outdo each other with the most outlandish threats that people would believe…I’d go from street to street with the [black] buyer…I’d ring the doorbell and say, these people want to buy your house. If the lady said no, I’d say the reason they’re so interested is that their cousins, aunts, mother, whatever, it’s a family of 12, are moving in diagonally across the street…”]
