Yes, Chicago banned smoking in all indoor public places and believe it or not, in open air stadiums too.

It's illegal to light up a cigarette sitting in soldier field, but apparently lighting up some mary jane inside Soldier Field is just ok.

Wow, how far our society has fallen.

Incredible how laws are just ignored .

Imagine if thousands of people lit up cigarettes there. Would there have been mass arrests?

“Chicago cops give wide berth to pot-smoking Deadheads”

As should anyone with even the smallest amount of common sense. Dirty, smelly hippies don’t age well. I’ve seen ‘em.

“I saw Emerson Lake and Palmer at Soldier Field in the 70’s. “

I was there, the lineup included J Geils band (Peter Wolf, anyway) and Paul Revere and the Raiders (no Mark Lindsay), right?

It’s hard to appreciate today what Keith Emerson did playing that instrument live in the 70’s. It was like operating a switchboard except he got music out of it.

I saw Emerson Lake and Palmer at Soldier Field in the 70’s. We had to park almost a mile away downwind. All we had to do was follow our noses. Fantastic concert.

I am jealous beyond description. Holy shit. Solider Field.

How many deadheads does it take to change a lightbulb?

None, They just let it burn out and follow it around for 40 years.

There is no longer any such thing as law.>

Would you prefer they broke some heads (pun works), tased a bunch and maybe shot a few for becoming inebriated?

The real problem is that certain folks are above the laws that would put most of us away forever and the little people are subject to the most arcane "laws" with serious effects.

The rule of law is, and should be, dead (another pun?) until those that make the laws are held accountable with the same vigor as those they lord over.

I would prefer they enforce the law in a professional manner.

They were probably all too stoned to remember that Jerry Garcia’s been dead for over 20 years.

>>Or is marijuana special and exempt from such laws?

I think it’s probably like that “NO SLEEPING IN BEDS” err {edit} “WIF SHEETS!” thing.

They are, after all, the brainworks of the farm.

Me too - first they have to ensure they are enforcing all the constitutional laws that way for everyone (even Left-Wing political activists/politicians) and get rid of any law that isn't fully Constitutional (probably about 90% of them).

They should do this regardless of anyone's "sense of righteousness" about their own pet issues. Did the weed-smoking Dead Heads cause any problems? If so, those that did should be prosecuted. If not, then the intent of the law needs to be examined versus the usual blanket approach which fetters everyone "just in case".

Declining to attempt to arrest 70,000 peaceable citizens sounds professional to me.
