As I remember, Germany told the US Federal Reserve: "We want our gold back. We don't want it held in NYC -- we want to hold it ourselves, in Germany."
And the Fed said: "No. You can't have it. We'll store it for you."
And Germany said: "Ummmmmmm. Errrrrrrr. Okay. I guess."
I consider that worrisome. My guess is that the gold is in China.

I thought I read about this a year ago where Germany wanted to reclaim its gold reserves. You are correct, once i read a few articles, it completely disappeared from the new.
