Minorities account for ever-larger share of U.S. population, but not in Charleston
Charleston Post and Courier ^ | July 5, 2015 | David Slade

Bucking a nationwide trend, the tri-county Charleston metro area’s population was just as white in 2014 as it was in 2000, according to recently-released estimates. Non-Hispanic white residents accounted for 64 percent of the population in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties last year, as was the case 14 years earlier.

People choose to live where ever they want to live in a free country. Of course, job opportunities have a lot to do with their choice.

What is the point of this article? It was on the Sunday front page. The Post and Courier has been constantly agitating since the tragic shooting of the black man by a police officer (now in jail), church shooting, church burning (lightning). Also, their editorials are now mostly liberal (WaPo, NYT).

The gist of this article is that too many white people are bad and more minorities are good. It is an article with racist overtones. What should Charleston do, become a sanctuary city to remedy the situation?

If all the non-Progressive whites picked up and moved to Texas, the headline the next day would be “Texas is Too White and Too Conservative” with no mention of giving the other 49 states to the Progs and their plantation voters.

the population in and around charleston county is increasing in general. people move there because industry is moving in, because it’s safe, and, it’s just a very nice place to live.

Sounds like the population of the Charleston area "reflects America".

Do they want Charleston to become a cosmopolitan "World" city? If so, they are gonna need a whole lot more Chinese & Indians!

(amazing liberals!)

Would that make it better? More languages, Tower of Babel? I just don't understand how the author can justify this article. It certainly is not news. It is not even a proven face that fewer whites make a place better. He is white, and maybe he has a self loathing problem.

Maybe the author feels we should import more Somalians so they can build more mosques?

Texas has more than we want. We will be glad to send them out of our state. Our crime rates would go down and their drunken driving on our highways would not threaten our families.

Isn’t the progressive haven of San Francisco, the epitome of tolerance, diversity, and acceptance, something like 90% white?

Charleston is virtually nothing but a hollowed out tourist town. Even the important families on the Battery have sold their homes to northerners who never even come down there. Years ago, the Battery was wonderful at Christmas ... Lights, parties, the works. Now it’s dark and empty.

When does this minority become a majority? Can you call Blacks in Detroit a majority race?

if you are white living in a major but dying city in the North you are
definitely a “minority”..

This is another one of those math challenges liberals seem to have a lot of trouble with.

If blacks make up 13% of the population of the country, but some areas are 40% black and some are 2% black then what is to be done? Are they going to make black people move so that every city and county is exactly 13% black? And make whites move until every city and county exactly matches the % of whites in the country, same for Hispanics, Asians, etc?

If this is the plan they are going to have a hard time when it gets down Aluetian Islanders.

Liberals are such dolts. They could go to 100% black Solamia and still call them “minorities.”

When they stop being minorities do they stop getting affirmative action and race based welfare?
