He attacked supply lines, forcing Cornwallis to try and capture him. He failed and The Swamp Fox continued his guerrilla tactics to defeat the British multiple times.
To add another not well-known figure of SC and colleague of Marion - Wade Hampton. An early settler of the area around Greenville, he gave the Brits a run for their money which infuriated them. He was later killed in an Indian massacre. His grand son, Wade III, was a wealthy plantation owner, raised Hampton’s Legion for the Confederate forces, fought through the entire war, lost a son and a brother on the field and later served as Senator and Gov of SC and promoted black rights...great, bad ass dudes all.
