Ted Cruz is right about this. Most states have this very system in place for their state supreme court justices.

I would add, that I think that whenever the SCOTUS makes a “landmark” decision which effectively “amends” the COTUS (like the homosexual one has and Roe did), it should not be allowed to be put into effect until “ratified” by the states just as any COTUS amendment would.
