The only elected official with the moral authority to ban the Stars and Bars was Abe Lincoln, and he chose not to. Anybody who know a wit about the Civil War knows that the fighting rebs were just poor farm boys who didn’t own slaves. In fact, slave owners were exempt from conscription by the Confederacy. Lincoln was a healer, not a divider.

He didn't possess the authority to do that. Displaying a flag is speech, and speech is protected.

If I'm wrong about that, then that Union that ole Abe so ably preserved must be destroyed!
