A 68-year-old man was pulled under the water by a shark Wednesday in the Outer Banks — this time on Ocracoke Island.
The man was swimming outside the first breaker about 25 feet offshore, directly in front of the lifeguard stand, when he encountered a gray shark about 7 feet long, Hyde County officials said. A lifeguard saw the shark pull the man under the water. He suffered several bites to his rib cage, hip, lower leg and both hands.
A witness told CNN he saw a “trail of blood from water to the sand.”
The victim was able to swim out of the water, where a doctor who happened to be in the area was able to stabilize him, said Justin Gibbs with Hyde County EMS. The man, who was visiting from Massachusetts, was then airlifted off the island to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, N.C. The man was stable and alert, officials said.

Yeah this is I think the fifth shark attack off North Carolina in two weeks. So anyone who goes in the water now is just not overly bright.
I have flown over those waters many times. There are always dozens of sharks within 100 yards of the shore, that is where they feed. They are very easy to spot from the air.

They are indeed...aerial photos are stunning sometime. Around Cape Lookout, which is part of the Beaufort Morehead City Atlantic Beach area, it’s shark infested from aerial looks....

When I got married, wife and I went to the beach. She wanted to go swimming, I told her I had no desire, but go if she wanted. Then I told her why I had no interest in going in the ocean. She hasn’t been in the ocean since.

Sharks are, like, the ONE thing of which I have a deep-rooted fear. When you’re in the water, you’re in their element. You have no idea which direction they are coming from and they can move so fast. Screw that.

NC has gators as far north as the “Alligator River”.

No one likes Massachusetts tourists.
I was just swimming in those waters with my kids last month.
