Hillary's campaign is soliciting as little as a $1 donation – to highlight her grassroots support. “Can you contribute $1 right now to help hit our goal of 50,000 donations?” implores a campaign email. “It’s the very first election deadline,” John Podesta, campaign chairman, reminds supporters still on the sidelines on the importance of this first test.
She’s emphasizing grassroots donations to showcase the populist message of her new campaign. “You really want to focus on building for the long term and not just getting as much money as soon as possible,” a former 2008 Clinton campaign adviser, said. “I’m confident she’ll have the resources she needs to run an effective campaign.” Clinton will personally fund-raise right up to the deadline.
The campaign also rolled out new Hillary summer swag to entice donations. Joining the pantsuit T-shirt are “Chillary Clinton” beer koozies ($10), bottle openers ($5) and a “Grillary Clinton” apron ($30).
Since her April launch, Hillary has averaged a fundraiser every 36 hours, the Sunlight Foundation reported. She’ll attend a campaign fundraiser Tuesday hosted by New York power couple, Chris Hughes, a Facebook co-founder and publisher of The New Republic, and Sean Eldridge, a former upstate New York congressional candidate.

Actually, with the fees they have to pay on transactions, a lot of $1 donations could cost them a considerable amount of money.
