first radio station of its kind in the United States

Ummmmmmmm. In Boston, in the late 70s, most of the radio stations fit this format. I'm sure that was true in many places.

It absolutely fits the format, lol.

I guess it beats the inane new stations.

It is odd how many younger people really like the music. (But what is there not to like?)

I remember when one guy out here in LA got fired for actually saying on the air one late evening something like, “I’m just sitting here firing up this ball of hash and putting on some tunes for you all” when I was in college.
