Sister Nirmala Joshi, who succeeded Mother Teresa as head of the Roman Catholic order Missionaries of Charity, died Tuesday in Kolkata, India, where the organization is based. She was 81.
Her health had been declining, the order said, but it did not specify the cause of death. In its obituary, the Vatican newspaper, lOsservatore Romano, said she had been elected superior of the order even though she had an incurable form of malaria that gave her constant fevers.
Sister Nirmala was selected to lead the charity six months before the death of Mother Teresa, its founder, in 1997. Mother Teresa received the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize for her charity work.

God bless her.
One of my first experiences with hatefulness coming from the left was when I saw the vehemence with which some tried to demean Mother Teresa and her wonderful humanitarian efforts.
RIP Sister.
I am in awe of what you are.
One of my teachers in high school said Mother Teresa was the most evil person in the world. She was an ex nun. Another teacher in college said something similar.
RIP.
Sister Mary Prema was elected as the Superior in 2009, when Sister Nirmala stepped down due to her poor health.
R.I.P.
why did they say she was evil?
