You could be right. The Roman Catholic Church has been leading people to hell.
They happily go along because they think it just makes sense. They have no concept of grace. Theirs is a works-based religion and they don’t know God at all.
That’s the plain truth.
that assertion is not factual.
Catholic teaching is that beyond knowing and accepting Christ, you must also act in his name. so it’s grace and work (using your terminology) that are required. either by itself is insufficient. the pope was wrong when he supposedly said that atheists can go to heaven if they do good deeds.
Respectfully, I don’t believe that the road to salvation is a passive one, relying on faith alone (one of the reasons I’m Catholic). I acknowledge that I can never earn my way into heaven and that I do rely on God’s mercy and Grace to even be considered. That being said, why would God consider bestowing eternal happiness on someone who didn’t even try to deserve it. It is only through works that one can demonstrate to God that you are serious about your faith (and Him).
I remind you what Jesus himself said:
“Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.”
That passage is a call to works.
That is actually UNtrue. Try getting your facts about Catholicism from Catholic sources rather than anti-Catholic sources.
