South Carolina lawmakers plan to introduce a resolution on Tuesday to begin a debate on removing the Confederate flag from the State House grounds following the killings last week of nine African-American churchgoers allegedly by a white gunman.

Doug Brannon, a Republican House member, has said he plans to introduce the legislation this summer. It would take approval of a two-thirds majority vote by both chambers of the legislature to undo the state law that requires the flag at the capital.

That law was the result of a 2000 compromise that removed the flag from its earlier position atop the State House.

The leftist pigs know the confederate flag has nothing to do with any killings. What they care about the ability to banish symbols. The confederate flag is an easily assailable symbol in these times of near universal ignorance and the point is to set the precedent. The republicans going along with this are either complicit in the deceit or simply to stupid to see the real point of this exercise. Make no mistake, the Gadsden flag, or some other symbol that might rally people to the cause of freedom, will receive this treatment before long.

People have way too much time on their hands. During the Depression, people didn’t have time to worry about such nonsense.

If anyone in government is serious about preventing another episode like this, then they need to get after the American Press.

This jackass had friends who are Americans of African descent. Would a real racist behave that way?

If he was out to kill Americans of African descent, then why did he let one live? Maybe because the real issue is that he wanted to be caught so he could get his face in front of the cameras.

Why wasn’t he running down Americans of African descent to kill them? Wasn’t he sitting in a parking lot when they caught him? He wanted to get caught. The jackass wanted to be a star, and the American Press has given him that.

Who in the world believes this shirthead always wanted to kill Americans of African descent because of a flag?

Nobody.

He’s a half-wit who flunked a grade and dropped out of school. He didn’t like his life or where he was going. All the cool people are famous. He wanted to be famous. What gets you famous in this country?

Being an American of European descent who kills Americans of African descent.

The blood of these nine dead Americans is not on any flag. Their blood is being used to print newspapers and print cue cards for newsreaders.

Exactly...so why didn’t they take the American flag down in NY after the school massacre there? If the flag is a murderer...burn it!

Ironically the Civil War itself made the states irrelevant so they actually do have tine for this silliness.

If the people of South Carolina--or a majority thereof--want the Confederate battle flag taken down from their state house, that's their right. The hitch, though, is that the decision should not be made by the SC legislature. Legislatures are too easily swayed by moneyed interests, threats of boycotts and the like. This should be put to a popular referendum and let the chips fall where they made. Common folk are less easily swayed or intimidated than legislators are.

I bet they go after Confederate Memorial statues next.

Wait till they get a view of the Arkansas flag! Same colors and stars in a different shape.

Gotta keep up the hate.
