The confusion caused by the similarity in the flags of the Union and the Confederacy was of great concern to Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard after the first Battle of Manassas. He suggested that the Confederate national flag be changed to something completely different, in order to avoid confusion in battles in the future. However, this idea was rejected by the Confederate government. Beauregard then suggested that there should be two flags. One, the National flag, and the second one being a battle flag, with the battle flag being completely different from the United States flag.

This is not the National Flag of the Confederacy. It is a battle flag. Three national flags were tried before the final design was settled on:

The first National flag design looked too much like the Union Flag and caused confusion in commanding armies in maneuvers.

As usual, there are a lot of people who are totally ignorant of history and won’t do the slightest amount of research to look in to it. MSM lies matter.

That explains what I heard — it was liberal heads exploding from being presented with facts contrary to what the MSM presents! I think I see another column to save for some future opportunity to entrap a lib...

"Every time a crazy person shoots up a place, the press demands Republicans -- who had nothing to do with it -- answer for the crime"

or, just blame a flag. Yeah, the flag caused the kid to go full bore whacko and kill 9 innocent Christian people. Ban a flag and viola! problem solved all the drug-whacked punks with mental issues will stop committing mass murders. No, this is how the left pegs the crime on innocent people..southerners in general.

Banning the Flag will make it an underground “Cool” symbol of the “Rebel”—It will stop nothing as the young turn more and more Racist to counter the racism of the Black leftist, the Gay Rights radicals and their Rainbow Flag. Why do so many go for the symbol rather than the real cause? Round up the nut cases! Hey, they are on the NET for crying out loud. Round them up and put them in Mental Hospitals! Get them the help they need—get doctors involved— Lets call for Mental health not ban guns that will stop nothing.

Who will decide the definition of a "nut case"? How do you know that you won't be put on the list? Good luck with that.

No Confederate flag was ever flown on a slave ship.

I wonder if that would have been true had the Confederacy won the war?

Truly, an absurd, irrational, knee-jerk reaction that will result in people boycotting walmart (wally already announced they will pull any merchandise off the shelves with that symbol) >rolls eyes<
I’m in Georgia; the flag stands more for “Southern Pride” than it does for “HATE”.
Banning a flag does not change anyone. It just makes the irrational and weak feel stronger because they could take something away from someone else.
America is under a very powerful and evil bully spirit.
Conservatives, Christians, white males and southerns are the new punching bag for America.
I’m disgusted with youth violence, liberal insanity and loss of liberties.
Do the leftists haters ever pray for America? No, but the ones who do are punished for crimes they didn’t commit.
