A leader of the group that South Carolina shooter Dylann Roof praised in his online 'manifesto' has donated large sums of money to conservative Republican candidates such as Senator Ted Cruz.
Earl Holt III, 62, is the president of the Council of Conservative Citizens, a St. Louis-based group that Roof says helped influence him in his views on race.
Roof, 21, is being investigated for terrorism after shooting nine black people at a Charleston bible study group on Wednesday and saying that he wanted the act to start a race war.
It has now been revealed that Holt has donated $65,000 to conservative politicians, including three current presidential candidates, while spewing racism on Internet message boards.

Candidates are slipping by not spotting and returning such contributions. This is fair game and not a smear. Clinton and others have been equally chastised for who they accept money from.

Very simple, it is long common practice for candidates to be called on for who they accept money from. If I recall correctly, Clinton, as one example, was repeated criticized for taking money from people that was later found embarrassing. That Holt has given most to Cruz and that an $8,500 donor was not scrutinized is shame on the campaign. It is not like Holt or his group is unknown. My $250 donation might not get more than the thank you letter I got, but a savvy campaign should be doing more with $8,500 donors, first, who they are, then follow-up. This now becomes embarrassing distraction for Cruz.

What? Ted Cruz knows a guy, who knows a guy, who another guy once heard of? That’s outrageous!
