They are in what is commonly referred to as “the hole”. Officially, it is known as Administrative Segregation, or some other similar term. I don't know the size of this facility, but in smaller institutions the hole is used to house disciplinary problems, as well as protective custody inmates. Chances are there are some blacks in his cell block and by now they would have let him know what's in store for him once they get their hands on him. And it won't be pretty.

I imagine a cop this dude who shot 9 blacks wouldn’t do well in general population, so they are together in isolation.
