"Not sure why this is an issue, the FEDS need YOUR PERMISSION to Operate in your State, THROW THEM OUT, if they refuse Arrest and Prosecute them."

Because much of the big spending for CO counties on the Range comes from the federal government. Most of the rest of it comes from dope tourism.

More info on public lands access here, too!

Public Lands Access Association

PLAA is leading the way here in Mesa County, and has been working close with the County Commissioners and other agencies to secure our rights on these lands. An amazing organization!

2,000 miles of road closed now, thousands more later. It never ends for socialists.

I imagine Brandon Siegfried (PLAA) will probably be the main speaker at the meeting.

"Hope they got a budget for busted locks."

People from the cities are using BLM lots to get around no trespassing signs and onto private roads that are owned by property owners. Too few trespassers realize that in CO statute, those no trespassing signs aren't necessary for prosecutions. Fences aren't necessary, either.

"These are routes that are on highly erosive soils, increased salinity in the Colorado river, and increased sedimentation in the Colorado River as well,” said BLM’s Chris Joyner."

Obama BLM ...these guys can come up with any silly excuse.

The House and Senate should pass a bill disbanding the BLM. Public land management should be by the National Parks.

BULLS#IT!!! BLM is tame compared to the National Park Service! Let the States manage it.

The best part? This jackwagon Joyner, up until now, has been simply saying that they are closing "redundant" routes - routes that have more than one access point. PLAA called them on it, with the County Commissioners, so now they've changed their story.

Mesa County should be thankful for Brandon. The work he's done has been amazing, and I know I'm thankful that he and the rest of the crew have done what they have. Truly an excellent organization. Every time I turn around, they got some new angle they are working, and working tirelessly. Truth be told, these roads would have likely already been closed, and our local pols completely in the dark, were it not for Brandon & the folks @ PLAA.

  1. Yes, Mesa County has had trouble with both the BLM and the NPS. E.g., we have a farming community here called Glade Park that is accessible mainly via a road that runs through Colorado National Monument. The NPS has been threatening to cut off access for years.

  2. Turning federal lands over to the states needs to be done carefully. E.g., whether public lands here are controlled by enviros in Washington, D.C. or enviros in Denver/Boulder is a frying pan vs. fire situation. The local counties need to have a say in how they're run or we're equally screwed.
