Yes, to me that funky hairdo does look like it might be wig.
Little information is coming out, and I feel the authorities are holding back.

Find the throw away sweater, baggy pants, shoes (boots)m can lead to other surveillance images...If those items are scattered, and not all in one place, this can be evaluated as an extremely well planned incident...
Jumping to the “hate” crime phrase is not helping...
