CVNs should never have been named after presidents. They were intended to be revolutionary war battles and warship names.
I don’t care what president we are discussing with the -sole possible- exception of George Washington.
Relax man...all magazines on the ship will be limited to 7 rounds.
USS Bergdahl is next.
Apparently you haven't read the latest directive, comrade. All new combat ships will be named for anti-gun heroines, as well as other liberal icons.
Wait until you see the USS Sarah Brady...
Shouldn’t it be a Clittoral Combat Ship?
This crap has been going on since the summer of 1969 at least, when the new construction USS Redfish (SSN-680) was hastily renamed USS William H. Bates upon his death. When asked why this was acquiesced to, ADM Rickover famously replied: “Fish don’t vote!”
At least he was dead. The Post Office used to require for 15 years after death for a person other than a dead president to appear on a stamp but they scrapped that in 2011. It’s part and parcel of what’s wrong this country and represents the triumph of personalities over principles.
