You will believe what you will. Relying on info from The Guardian is like relying on The New York Times for unbiased clarity in all things conservative.

Pope Benedict XVI was one of the first to call for the removal of clergy guilty of abuse of children. That is the real record. And, as to the reason(s) he chose to resign - he as not made those public except to say he was getting too old to keep up the hectic schedule, which is far more grueling than that of the wimpy - and much younger - Obama.

There are many more stories out there, including the Italian press. But as you said so yourself, "You will believe what you will."
