Responding to what they say is ongoing abuse and neglect, and demanding an independent investigation into two recent detainee deaths they feel are suspicious, about 200 immigrant detainees launched a hunger strike Saturday morning at the Eloy Detention Center.
At 9:45 a.m., the men sat down in the recreation yard and declared their strike against what they say are brutal and inhumane conditions.
Among their demands:
Independent investigation into the two recent deaths, both of which happened under what detainees say are mysterious circumstances, allegedly after guard abuse
An investigation into excessive use of force at the detention center
Better medical and mental health care
Access to legal resources and court hearings when requested
An end to what they say is the exploitation of their work
An end to immigration criminalization, detention and deportations

The Morlocks will be angry........
What about the Morlocks?
Return the Time Machine control handle, and then we’ll talk.
More food for the rest of us.
but burial space is a problem in most parts of the country (though not in the desert)
Offer Weena as a ransom.
Deportation solves so many problems.....
Send the bodies back to Meh-hee-co, then, it’s their problem.
Among my demands: GTFO!
Let them do time in a Mexican jail. Then they can talk about the good times at Eloy.
LOL
Let ‘em starve!
If two are dead, that certainly deserves some investigation... but any decent j0urnalism major (if there are any left) would let us know why they have been detained in the first place.
Oh boy, you illegally enter a country and this is the treatment ya get? It’s almost enough to make a fella want to not break the law.
If only the Mexicans would return to where they came from with a siren.
