Eastern Iowa is largely a loony bin. I have personal experience in this that will remain secret.
Unfortunately there are large swaths of Western Iowa still awash in the early 20th Century progressive movement that took fire in the upper midwest. Some of the people my age in that part of the state even today speak glowingly of the likes of "Fighting" Bob La Follette and George Norris. The communist Henry Wallace (of the 1948 presidential campaign) was also a western Iowan.
I reiterate that neither Iowa nor New Hampshire has any business in picking the GOP nominee. Oklahoma with its track-record of repudiating DemonRATs in presidential elections remains a favorite but I'm open to other suggestions.
