CADYVILLE, N.Y. Ken Snyder refused to waste a perfect sunny afternoon and spent Thursday reseeding his lawn, despite a manhunt underway behind his home in this rural corner of upstate New York.
It wasnt a typical day of yardwork for the 70-year-old retiree. As helicopters buzzed overhead and a small army of heavily armed police lined a nearby country road, Mr. Snyder was ready if two convicted murderers who escaped from a state prison emerged from the woods backing up to his property.
Inside his garage were two phones should he need to call for help. In his laundry room was a loaded rifle with extra ammunition on the washer and dryer. Upstairs in the bedroom: another rifle.

***loaded for bear and escaped convicts.***
NO more than SEVEN rounds! Remember the new law!
where does one go after a breakout? what about food? clothes? transportation? your faces everywhere? in this day and age its hard to stay hidden for two weeks.
“where does one go after a breakout? what about food? clothes? transportation? your faces everywhere? in this day and age its hard to stay hidden for two weeks.”
The homes of vulnerable people. And these guys are very violent so I don’t blame people for being afraid...
I’m interested to see if and how 2 individuals can escape the full force of the police-nanny state.
Sounds like, if he was outside working, and his weapons were inside, he was pretty vulnerable.
I imagine a little bit of help from somebody on the ‘outside’ would be very useful. They could stay holed up in a house for weeks, as long as they had just one person bringing them food, etc. The cops are probably digging pretty deep into the backgrounds of anyone who recently associated with these two.
This story demonstrates the absurdity of the 7 round limit. This guy just has two rifles.
It is times like this, that people in the area who don’t own a gun, really rethink the issue.
The guy that I bought my place from was murdered in it by two men, the best theory is that the Hells Angels killed him, they didn’t shoot his girlfriend who was also in the bed with him.
When things go bump in the night, it really is reassuring to put your hand on your pistol and expensive tactical flashlight, and know that you are master of your domain.
The same when the sheriff’s helicopters are buzzing your place, describing over the loudspeaker someone they are looking for, and you can shut your door, and clip your pistol on your belt.
they must understand that there is virtually no chance of maintaining freedom. when was the last successful long term breakout? I don’t recall one.
He might not have time to get to those rifles.
Imagine the poor kid who was defending his mom saying she would never ... oops.
She did.
It could be that, so far, they have been hesitant to approach a home because they know many upstate homeowners are also gun owners.
So he’s out in the yard and guns are in the bedroom?
My very same thought!
Plus, hope his name is off his mail box cause the escapees may have been having morning coffee run the ole camp fire reading the journal and now know he’s got weapons ands out back seeding the lawn.
I think these guys know they got stiffed by the fat strawberry blonde and don’t know WherTF they are if in fact they are together.Could have cleaned up, split up and said adios NY.
If not they are desperate so take a heater to the yard with ya all you upper state New Yorkers.
You city folk your screwed cause of your Mayor and governor,,,,too bad.
Votes matter.
Those guys must be in Canada by now.
You mean they haven’t forced residents into “shelter in place” and frog marched out of their own homes??

I guess I don’t quite understand the timing. You already owned it and hadn’t taken possession?
aint got nothing, got got nothing to loose
