Thousands of Chicago Teachers Union members and their supporters blocked a downtown stretch of LaSalle Street early Tuesday evening, staging a show of force amid an intensifying contract battle..
"You have to remember that what you're fighting for is not just a fair contract, it is the history of fair contracts," CTU President Karen Lewis told supporters gathered outside the Thompson Center. "And if we have a chance, this is it. This is the time where you have to stand up and tell 'em all, 'No, we're not going to take that.' "

Chicago Public Schools says it is wrestling with a $1.1 billion deficit weighted with pension payments. The CTU rally featured the union's new slogan: "CPS: Broke on purpose."

In an ironic way, they're right. Liberals want an uneducated, unemployable, illiterate underclass that is dependent on the government for survival.
Unfortunately, these morons are demanding a nearly broke (financially and administratively) education system give them more. I was at one of the downtown restaurants when a CTU group in red t-shirts barged in to have dinner.

No she didn’t. She would tell you to your face when the kids start paying union dues, she will do something for them. Publik Education is a union jobs program, nothing more.
Believe people here are missing the big picture here. The teachers are the good people here. The Administrators making the 6 figure salaries and the way money gets wasted is what needs to be looked at.
(no need to go into summers,holidays,weekends,springbreak,Christmas break and "curriculum days")
