At least 65,000 homes and businesses lost power Monday in heat-related outages across the Bay Area, including more than 50,000 customers in the East Bay and 12,000 in San Jose, Pacific Gas & Electric Co. officials said.

The outage knocked out power at the Downtown Berkeley Station, which had to be shut down. The blackout culprit was reportedly a squirrel in an El Cerrito substation.

Power elsewhere in the Bay Area went down mostly due to temperature-related equipment failures, said J.D. Guidi, a spokesman for PG&E.

I suggest they consider building a power plant. Or two.

The temperature hits 100 (or heavy rains or winds exceed 30 mph) and the grid here will fail, count on it.

Oh Noes, that would be Waciss! Or something...

This morning the non stop Communist Propaganda outlet known as KCBS had some dimwitted parrott from the California Public Utilities commission on to tell us that from now on, all new homes in California must produce as much energy as they use.

Gee, can you say "Elon Musk wants your money for crappy solar panels?"

Just another 5 Year Plan from the Central Committee for Production of the Supreme Soviet of the People's Republic of California.

God Forbid they should allow us to build more power plants to supply the millions of Mexicans who stream into the state endlessly to get on the Welfare Train.

Build a power plant? Oh The Horror. Let the people in Arizona and California do that.

In the meantime, Third World California will simply have rolling power outages anytime it sprinkles.

Well, at least they can comfort themselves knowing that they are sweltering in the heat because they didn’t build an evil power plant.

So, which caused the problem - a squirrel or the heat? Stick to one story or we’re going to think it wasn’t either of those.

On April 16, 2013 six men launched an attack on a critical power station in California. The attack consisted of hundreds of AK-47 rounds being unleashed on 10 large transformers — and it was first called “vandalism.” But the former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission calls it “the most significant incident of domestic terrorism involving the grid that has ever occurred.” It has largely gone unreported.

Slow or fast — the trains generate a hellish racket for the passengers.

"LOOK, over there, it's a SQUIRREL!", he said, diverting attention from the power plants and dams closed by the environmentalists.

It was out in N. Stockton. My daughter’s house was out but mine was on a couple of blocks away. No water, no AC. It is like we are living in a third world country. Come on CA. If you are going to encourage migrants to up the population, you need to responsibly plan to expand the infrastructure for their needs. Environmentalists will have to be put in their place if needs be.

Good thing they ripped out all those dams. What’s the problem, when it’s hot the wind doesn’t blow?
