I just received this in an email from The Old Guard Association. They expect to make a full movie including the selection & training of the soldiers who serve as "Tomb Guards". No word yet on when the movie will be released.

Wasn’t there a movie a while back about the troops that guard the Tomb? Was James Caan in it..I seem to remember something like that

Yes, the movie was adapted from the book of the same title by Nicholas Proffitt who served in The Old Guard in 1962-63 when I was there, tho’ I did not know him (see reply #2.) Proffitt later became a war correspondent for Newsweek in Vietnam which gave him inspiration for the book along with his Old Guard service. Proffitt was awarded a Distinguished Member of the Regiment (DMOR) posthumously by The Old Guard in 2013. I watch that movie every time it comes around on TV. It’s a real tribute to the guys who did not make it back from VN and the guys who did but were so unjustly maligned when they arrived home.
