Two Canadian siblings have been barred from leaving Malaysia after being blamed for an earthquake that struck Mount Kinabalu, in Malaysia Borneo, on Friday.
According to Malaysian police reports, Lindsey Petersen, 23, and Danielle Petersen, 22, are two of five tourists who have been identified as disrespecting the mountain, considered a sacred place in the indigenous culture of Sabah.

Well if they caused the earthquake, then they need to stay and stand trial for it. Makes perfect sense.
Yes, I agree. And I can’t imagine Malaysians going abroad and displaying themselves naked, so they are entitled to be annoyed at such behaviour.

Some Malaysians would find your post to be literal fact - they would be convinced that the disrespectful behaviour caused the earthquake.
What will happen now, is that some Western educated Kuala Lumpur types will have to go out to the provinces, and persuade their countrymen into a better frame of mind.
It is the latest thing, internationally. You go to some significant or sacred site and ... throw off your clothes. Get photographed, and post this on Facebook.
Recently, French tourists outraged the Khmer by doing this at Angor Watt.
Remember folks. All cultures are equal.
That said, these tourists are freaking idiots. But it does show that no, we all can’t just get along. We are different. For better or worse.

As a Canadian, I say to let the Malaysians, “You can keep ‘em!” Probably just welfare types anyway.
