We all change our accents "over time" to the local accents.
The difference is Hillary "mimics" accents from one campaign stopover to the next. That is part of her ingenuousness.

I remember several years ago Hill spoke before some northern Blacks, maybe Chicago way, I’m not sure.
A woman was making a statement and Hillary responded with “THAT’S what I’m talkin’ about” line, in a decidedly black way of speaking. When I heard it I thought for sure she was going to be run out of there for such obvious and shameless pandering.
Much to my surprise, she retained the black support...or so we’re led to believe.
When I was 12/13, I went to vist my Aunt and Uncle in Texas for four weeks. I came back to Ohio with a thick Texas accent!
Pure and simple, she’s a phony!
I’m Brooklyn born and raised on Long Island. I’ve lived in Massachusetts for 35 years and have never developed a Boston accent. As soon as I open my mouth everyone knows where I’m from.

I don't know about accents but I heard that you have to be 12 or under to learn a language like a native. I have a friend who was about 11 when she came to the US and speaks beautifully. Her brother is a couple of years older and I have to listen very closely to understand him.
And as for Hillary's empathy, I've know lizards with more empathy. Everyone is either someone she can use or maybe a mealworm to eat.
