MASHPEE – President Obama and his family will be vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard again this summer, according to officials at Joint Base Cape Cod.
Base officials were in Mashpee this week to give selectmen an update on a number of issues at the base.
But tucked in among the announcements about mission changes and environmental mitigation, Colonel James LeFavor of the 102nd Intelligence Wing announced that President Obama would be coming to Martha’s Vineyard again this summer.
“This summer again, we’re still having a visitor to the Cape down on Martha’s Vineyard as we have for a long time and we will have some sort of fighter alert presence, whether it’s F-15s from the 104th or someone else, so there might be a little bit of air activity that you might hear,” he said at Monday’s meeting of the Mashpee Board of Selectmen.
Rumors that President Obama and his family were coming to the Vineyard again this year began over the winter when business leaders on the island said they had heard the news.
Obama vacationed on Martha’s Vineyard with his family in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014. He skipped his island vacation in 2012 when he was running for reelection. Over the years, the President has rented three different properties in the up island town of Chilmark for his two-week vacation.

Gee, it seems like only yesterday that Martha’s Vineyard finally got rid of its previous Obama infestation.
Supposed to be a year of in close along the east coast hurricane season this year.
It would give Obama a great chance to crow about global warming if a hurricane came up the coast while he was trying to golf at the Vineyard, haha.
The Obamas are going to have a family seizure the first time they are asked to pay for their own flights and hotels - especially given that Mr and Mrs don’t sleep in the same bedroom.
Cartons of smokes and flat-panel TVs are being put in place as we speak in Barky’s room.
...they will have a foundation and sap off of that.
Yeah `Wideload’, Mama, Malaria and little sis need a little break from it all before heading out on another multi-million dollar European vacation.
Hey Obama, you can quit calling these vacations and just refer to them as going away parties.
Better stock up on Stinky’s cigarettes.
