Freedom lost is hard to regain. Never think for a moment that the GOP does not love the power as much as the Dems. That’s why the only poor soul you saw on the Senate floor tonight was Rand Paul trying to fight for our personal freedoms. Just the one guy. Sickening.

Never fear, tomorrow this pack of quislings will past the newly named USA Freedom act which is just a slight watered down version of the Patriot Act. In fact it may even be worse by some accounts and its authored by no less that one of our big heroes Mike Lee. At this point I can only say WTF?

Yes,
it is be very easy for anyone to get dragged into an investigation.

Anyone that you have ever had phone contact with (innocently or not)
whether it is a friend, a coworker, a neighbor, or a relative,
who, that person in turn, may have had phone contact (innocently or not)
with someone else who has been identified on some watch list such as a
gambler, prostitute, drug dealer, tax evader, gang member, or whatever.

Yeah, I trust these people about as much as I trust the IRS...

In the last 13 years, have any law abiding USA citizens or non-terrorists actually been harmed by this law?

Well, the Executive branch gets to listen in on anyone in the other branches phone calls and read their emails. What could possibly go wrong with that? Certainly Obama would never abuse that power, would he? Naw, he can be trusted, right? He would never use information to influence elections or anything like that. Just watching how righteous the IRS and Just-us Department have acted, I'm certain that we can trust all information of every sort to be up for grabs by the One. /s

Bingo. I would be amazed if anything stops at midnight. Not that they’d tell us one way or the other.

Exactly. Who's going to verify compliance?
