No, you’re not the only one. After my policy was discontinued for two years in a row, my premium went up 60% if I kept the same “silver” policy. Couldn’t afford it so stepped down to a “bronze” which has a ridiculously high deductible and doesn’t cover very much. It’s basically catastrophic.

I think a lot of companies who insure their employees are just eating the increases. So many people get free or subsidized healthcare, there isn’t a groundswell of opposition. That was the idea from the get go.

We are self-insured with a high deductible HSA. We pay ridiculous premiums for the privilege of — paying our own bills up to $45,000!! It’s a complete joke, but the only way we could get premiums for our family of five under $15,000/year (annually). So, $60K out of pocket.....just thankful we can pay it, but for how long????????
