This year they're counting homicides.
This year they're counting homicides.
I wonder if this trend will continue.
And I wonder about fallout from the riots and continuing shootings and violence.
For example, will attendance at Orioles games slack off, if people are afraid to go into Baltimore City?
Will tourism slack off at places such as the Inner Harbor, due to fear? Even before this year’s troubles, there had been concerns about the encroachment of the youth gangs into the Inner Harbor area, and nearby areas of downtown.
Are the criminals emboldened now? If they know that the police are not going to be there, will they become more and more brazen in their criminal activities? And if so, will that affect issues such as the tourism and attendance at ball games????
Somebody familiar with the area said the Inner Harbor is only for tourists during daylight hours, and that at night it is a zoo. Never been there myself, but I understand what they were describing.

Well, it is Saturday night tonight......
Any of the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC (Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties) are dangerous at night, especially as the weather gets warmer. Similar warnings extend to the cities and environs of Baltimore and Annapolis. Gas up and drive carefully.
Some Maryland FReepers could inform you. I’m in North Central Texas.
Just avoid urban ghettos and you’ll be fine.
Montgomery County is fine for most part, it's a wealthy county and it's where I grew up. P.G County, on the other hand, is an impoverished place.
Drive on the major highways and drive during the day. Don’t get off the highway for gas or food in sketchy areas.
