A Mississauga man accused of committing crimes that targeted a Catholic church near his home told police he was thinking of killing or hurting a priest the night he's alleged to have broken into the place of worship, a Brampton court heard today.
Iqbal Hessan, 22, was released on bail Thursday by Justice of the Peace Gerry Manno after a lengthy hearing that lasted two days.
He has been charged with breaking and entering, commiting an indictable offence and five counts of mischief over $5,000, in connection with numerous incidents at St. Catherine of Siena Church over the past five weeks. While questioning the accused man's father, one of Hessan's sureties, Crown prosecutor Ann Marie De Grace told the court Hessan said in his statement to Peel Regional Police after his arrest that he had plans to hurt a priest last month, the night he is accused of breaking into the church.
Manno later said Hessan told police he was thinking of killing a priest.
Manno also questioned Hessan's father on allegations that his son was upset at the church and "upset with Christian religion."
Basir Hessan said his son was diagnosed with schizophrenia and that caused his anger and imbalance.

Do I really get to be the first to say it?
Those darned Amish!
Released on bail?
Freakin’ Amish Canadians again.
Three words:
WAR PLAN RED.
“his son was diagnosed with schizophrenia”
This is not an easy diagnosis to make on someone who is NOT Amish.
So, how would one do it?
Aren’t most Islamic fanatics “schizoids”, latent psychopaths, and people of peace?
So when he does kill the priest will he have to post bail?
Affirmative sir. I only read as far as the chump's name, and I made my conclusion. I didn't jump the gun did I? 😂
I think a better diagnosis would be "Uncontrollable Jihad Syndrome". Most effective known cure is high velocity lead injection.
I would like to BEHEAD a Muslim, but it is a crime, just like hurting a priest you POS Islamic trash.
