A Syrian Christian fighter has beheaded an Islamic State group (IS) militant to avenge people "executed" by the jihadists in northeastern Syria, a monitor said on Friday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the incident took place on Thursday in Hasakeh province, where IS holds large areas of the countryside.
According to the monitor, the Christian fighter, a member of the minority Assyrian community, found the jihadist in the local village of Tal Shamiram.
"He took him prisoner and when he found out he was a member of IS, the Assyrian fighter beheaded him in revenge for abuses committed by the group in the region," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said.
The Observatory is based in Britain but has covered the Syrian conflict since it broke out four years ago thanks to a network of sources inside the country.
The Christian was fighting in the ranks of Kurdish forces who earlier this month drove IS out of more than a dozen Assyrian villages the jihadists had captured in Hasakeh.
IS has carried out a wave of abuses in areas it controls in both Syria and Iraq, including public beheadings, mass executions, enslavement and rape.

No one on this thread should be rejoicing. If he killed him in self-defense, fine. A beheading is not self-defense. This is shameful.

Folks need to start thinking twice about anti-Christian activities (i.e., “Piss Christ”) just like they do about drawing Mohammad or criticizing Islam.

I couldn’t disagree more thoroughly.
When Christ was arrested Peter started to fight. Christ returned good for evil and healed the man. If we do what they do we stop being victims deserving of defense and start being participants in the evil. I don’t mean the guy should have patted him on the back. I mean he should have turned him over to appropriate authorities — if that was not possible then he should have held him. The last thing he should have done was commit a barbaric and murderous act against him.
They need to be wiped off the planet but only in the appropriate way — militarily.

I’d rather be a fool by your definition than a jihadist, albeit a “christian” version.
We can use lead, and we don't even have to pour it in their ears. I'm sure we can find some other way to get it where it needs to go. :)

Exactly who was this man supposed to turn this monster over to? What “authorities” exactly? The Iraqi army has turned tail and fled for their lives, there are no cops, there are no courts, and there are no jails.
This fool wanted to play jihadi. Well play stupid games and you’ll win stupid prizes. I don’t care if they cage these animals and set them on fire. Hell, I’ll pay for the gasoline and hand them a lighter.
