WASHINGTON -- About a decade ago, a doctor friend was lamenting the increasingly frustrating conditions of clinical practice.

Nanny State PING!
I lost my doctor of many years. He was open about his retiring early being about CommieCare, and the administrative nightmare it would be.
My doctor just gave up his practice. I really liked him. The Won told me if I liked my doctor, I could keep my doctor.
OBTW, he quit precisely because of Obamacare.
My wife received a Medicare check for 67 cents.
It is framed in her office.
I see my doctor once a year and now that he has a computer in the examining room, he spends more time typing than examining.
Not what he signed on for I'm sure.
I got two, for 20 cent’s each!
My Doc implemented the whole web-portal thing. Looks like he hired a few more staff to manage it. I even got training.
Its useless. I’m supposed to send messages through it - they never get answered. Not sure what info I am supposed to be able to access on it, but its a waste of time.
Same thing for me last week, there 20 minutes, he was asking and typing for 15 of those - even asked if i had a gun, not sure how that would have a bearing on my general health.
My doctor just went under. He said he was retiring because he was tired or getting screwed by Obamacare and all the electronic forms now required. My sister, also a doctor, says they are about to come out with a new coding protocol that is magnitudes greater and unworkable than the present one, which is also basicaaly a mess. And the old code numbers do not even track over into the new more complicated system, so literally you will have the inputters having to relearn the whole thing from scratch.
My urologist quit. He's pissed.
I’ve quit a couple of doctors due to their incessant mumbling and staring at their computer screen like a teenager with an iPhone.
They occasionally catch themselves and say they have no choice but to use the EMR system(s) but that’s a weak excuse.
Some of them are trying this ‘scribe’ approach with a transcriptionist in the room typing away on a laptop. Bollocks to that. I’m not the pope or the prime minister - my health is important but only to me. The laptop jockey can wait in the hall and get the doctor’s notes later.
As usual, government’s involvement causes all to focus on the wrong things at the wrong time. The NHS in Britain is an unending example of What Not To Do but US leftists never have been able to analyze a situation and learn from it.
Obamacare also requires them to ask if you smoke, or they will be in violation of the law. Once that data is entered your premiums will then get jacked up under Obamacare.
Doctors used to have microphones, and I think some even had live transcriptionists in another room. Maybe that wasn’t as widespread as I thought.
But undocumented Democrat Krauthammer
WANTED RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE.
Said it was a great thing.
What a stupid idiot.
Had to go the doctor last week because I had a virus that wouldn’t go away. Hadn’t been in forever. Filled out 32 pages of questions before I went into the examining room, then saw a PA who asked all the same questions, then a nurse who also asked all the same questions. I asked her if she was unable to read my writing because I had already been asked and answered those same questions twice. She said she just had to verify the information. Also asked why I had not completed the family history. I’m mid-70’s, was adopted and there is no family history - which is why I put Not Applicable by all those questions.
There are three doctors in that group practice and I counted nine employees all staring at or inputting info into a computer plus I saw four others who are either RN’s or PA’s. Just ridiculous.
Got up and left and went to a cash only clinic down the street. Took me 15 minutes to see a doctor who checked my blood pressure and temperature, asked about my symptoms and wrote a prescription. Cost a little more but absolutely no hassle or superfluous info.
new coding protocol..”
Actually it’s called ICD-10. They are diagnosis codes. Implementation has been postponed at least twice that I know of, primarily because Medicare (the agency driving this change) wasn’t ready. My docs and I are just hoping it is postponed again.
Lots of groups making money off of this by offering classes to docs and coders to assist in the learning process. It’s going to be a disaster.
Thanks for the ping!
