Answer #1 is typical. They spend most of their money on administration. The grant writers and other paper shufflers are paid more that the grants they “give”.

Wait, I just re-read the headline!

“stealing” is defined as taking something that rightfully belongs to someone else.

How can “the poor” rightfully own something?
By definition, if they are poor, they have few to no capital possessions.

I think high taxes across the board will put a state on this list. For example, a high gas tax or high sales tax is ‘non-progressive’, and usually affects all consumers equally.

I would not use this list to draw any positive conclusions about a Illinois’ tax rates.

Socialism “Steals” from everybody in order to suppress the rise from poverty into independence from government.

In Minnesota, despite $1.6 billion budget surplus, Gov. Dayton and the DFL proposed a 15 cent hike in the gas tax that would increase as gas prices increased. So much for the DFL being a champion for workers.

Pennsylvania, because our state constitution forbids a progressive income tax. Same flat rate for everyone.

Not to worry though, Tom Wolf has that one in his sights.

he general idea is that high earners should be taxed at higher rates, allowing a good portion of that revenue to go into programs that help lower-income people.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. At gunpoint. Smells like communism to me.

From the Fed’s website:
The Congress established the statutory objectives for monetary policy—maximum employment, stable prices, and moderate long-term interest rates—in the Federal Reserve Act.

There is nothing about ‘income inequality’ there. Leave it to the Obama administration to further politicize things.

This issue is right in the FairTax’ sweet spot, because the FairTax will level America’s economic playing field!

By not taxing work, savings or investment, EVERY AMERICAN will be incentivized to work harder, save more and invest wisely.

FairTax will get the USA moving again!

To find out how you can help replace the income tax with the FairTax and in the process abolish the IRS, go to https://www.fairtax.org.

Oh, along the way, by treating EVERY AMERICAN exactly the same, FairTax will, over time, help eliminate the incessant class warfare that has so divided America.

The issue is FReedom — we ALL will be FRee to work, earn save, invest without the heavy hand of government interfering in our economic activities!

Well, it is Communism!

And, the ONLY people who benefit are the commissars!

I am referring to, of course, the fat-cat Bureaucrats and Welfare Warriors who administer these “anti-poverty” programs.

If you are curious, check out the annual salary schedules of the “Government Service” Commissars! Looky: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Schedule_%28US_civil_service_pay_scale%29

The most common question you will hear one of thes “Commissars” ask another is “Have you got your (whatever their next level is, “12” for example, referring to GS-12) yet?

Now, not all GS folks are slugs, but there are too damn many of them to suit me! And they are ALL more interested in their own advancement than they are doing their job for the American people, which, IIRC, is the sole reason the US Government exists!

I hope the next President performs a big-ass RIF on the civilian government population beginning on January 20, 2017!

Socialism guarantees an equal level of low-income misery for everyone EXCEPT the Commissars!

Socialist countries have two income levels: rich and poor.

The LIEberal/Socialist/Marxist/Fascist bastards who infest our government are working day and night to turn the USA into a rich-poor banana republic by destroying the middle class.

When will the middle class get pissed off enough to begin resisting?

The same thing they're doing in the corporate tax break business. Giving taxpayer money to companies that could do very well without them. The only difference between them and poor people is that the companies get more.

Oh, and the companies hire hundreds of people and pay them wages. Wages that the people can then use to buy things and support other businesses.

And then there are the taxes that the companies pay that the deadbeats don't ...

Yeah, but other than those things, they're exactly the same.
