A nice homage to his father, but one item stands out.

“On November 11, 2011, Congress voted to award a Congressional Gold Medal for the 20,000 black Marines of Montford Point, the first blacks to serve as Marines.”

Was this done for other groups?
Americans fresh from Europe, the had to go back and battle their own kin?

What about the draftees? Most wanted nothing to do with the war, but off they went.

Or the draft doger that never went! They should get a medal for evasive action! Many claimed to be gay; think about that!

Starbuck's coffee shop had the most poignant Memorial Day salute to the fallen:

As you walk in, right near the entrance, a table is set, covered w/ a white cloth, with one place setting and a fallen soldier's camouflage hat.

The place setting awaits the fallen soldier....a dinner plate, a wine glass, a bud vase w/ a red rose, and a lighted votive candle........the candle flame stretched high......saluting our fallen heroes.

In Starbuck's near military bases---soldier get free coffee all day--their kids get cake pops.

Starbucks founder and CEO Howard Schultz is very vocal in support of the military---is leading an effort to urge industry to hire returning vets.

Schultz also supports conceal/carry---and though he'd prefer guns not be brought into S/bucks, I have seen coffee buyers sporting guns in hip holsters.

A lot of their baked goods are donated to area charities, as well.
