".....'I received a certified letter Saturday about this issue and [my husband] Keith contacted the [Board of Education] on my behalf yesterday while I worked subbing. I have been notified that a warrant for my arrest will most likely be issued.
'My familys doctor has written a character reference for me, and I have the support of many [Board of Education] employees, but at the moment it still appears I will be arrested.
'If the Sheriff and the Attendance Officer moves forward I will be given the opportunity to turn myself in. I spoke to a county employee yesterday that says arrest IS likely.
'As all of you know, my boys being sick often is nothing new. Their NP jokes that the practice should be cutting me a paycheck, but the truth is l cannot afford a copay every single time they are sick, but I never want to send them to school when they feel bad or could possibly get others sick.
'I have NEVER been in trouble before in my life and the boys are beside themselves. We need prayer! I know that God is good and is with me in all things!!'
......Screven County Schools Superintendent, William Bland, stands by this decision, and said the policy was important to make sure children are attending school.
He also revealed that several parents have already been convicted under this policy, with the punishment ranging from a monetary fine to actual time behind bars....

Seems like this arshat enjoys having parents arrested on technicalities...
Unless there is “more” to this story, this is uncalled for.
Note that the family is white. I had a neighbor tell me about being threatened over her daughter having had too many absences despite doctor’s notes. I said, “of course. You’re white. They aren’t going to risk going into the ghetto to go after black parents and they have to look like they’re doing their job.” I worked on the edge of a major city ghetto for too many years to not know how this stuff works.
This is weird. When I was in school, parents sent a note with you when you went back. Unless there was a really long absence, nobody questioned it.
And you could go on long trips with your family - have a packet of daily work sheets and assignments to keep you current with the class.
I can attest to the attitude of the administration being basically milquetoast except for a superintendent that seems to rule the show and just digs in for "the rules" and "the law", none of which means two shits to people that don't want queer indoctrinatiion in the presence of their kids
I know for a fact that schools will treat students unfairly or outright abuse them if they don’t like the parent’s political or religious leanings, and the family doesn’t hold any special social status.
Yes, the arrogance of many public school teachers and administrators is mind boggling. But it’s certainly there.
I don’t know if this applies to this particular case or not, but since the ‘punishment’ is way out of line, I wonder.
Obviously another perfect reason to homeschool. Often, school administrators think they are Gods and rule the adolescents world. When enough people realize what is happening in our public schools, perhaps they will pull their kids and teach them at home.
I saw her on TV and she did not seem to be very bright and basically just lazy
You know why they had to put her in shackles, right? Because if they don’t put her in shackles just like all the drug dealers, rapists and murderers they arrest, well, that wouldn’t be fair. It might even be considered racist depending on certain facts. So, now the procedure is to put shackles on everyone regardless of the charge. Because racism and stuff.
Oh, “white privilege” would be in play otherwise.
I get it...
