I don’t agree, Scotland from the 15th/early 16th C was moving more and more towards a Union with England.

Yes, due to the Protestant union. If Scotland had remained Catholic like Ireland, then it would have had more common cause with France and would have remained a French ally like it was for centuries before the Reformation
