Don Elijah Eckhart has announced he will try to wrestle the Republican Partys nomination for U.S. Senator from incumbent Rob Portman in the March 2016 primary.
I am pro-life, and I continue to support the Ohio Constitutions definition of marriage as one man and one woman, Mr. Eckhart said. I will protect religious freedom, especially the right of pastors and priests to preach values from the Bible.
He said he is committed to simplifying the federal income tax and reducing tax rates for the middle class.
By eliminating special tax breaks, the overall income tax rates could be reduced substantially, Eckhart says.
In addition, the federal budget can and should be balanced responsibly within a new presidents first term of office.
Any plan to balance the budget over the next ten years is not responsible, since it only pushes accountability into the unpredictable future, Mr. Eckhart said. Both the President and the Congress have lost the will to balance the federal budget, and our country is coming perilously close to exceeding a sustainable level of debt.
The balance of power among the three branches has lost its equilibrium. The Supreme Court and the Executive Branch have increased in power, while the Congress has declined.

He has my vote! Portman is a disaster.
Portman is running the most arrogant campaign.
He wants the Ohio GOP, 300 of his minions, Ben Carson and others to rule out even having a primary.
Jim Jordan made a huge mistake in endorsing Portman. I have no problem if he just endorsed him as a generic candidate. But go to Portman’s facebook and his imagery is all based on bullying any potential primary challenger.
I hope Portman loses the general.
His average record on immigration was going to help him but he abandoned that to attack Walker and Jeff Sessions.
Hopefully the GOP keeps the Senate Majority minus
1. Portman
2. Kirk
3. Ayotte or Toomey or Johnson
This month Sherrod Brown has been more conservative than Portman. Hopefully Sherrod and Berni and Jeff Sessions can somehow kill TPP.
If you want to see Eckhart in action, here he is in a debate back in 2008 when he was running for Congress as an independent...

Could an Ohio FReeper tell non-Ohioan FReepers about Eckhart.
He started his term by getting the ball rolling for RINO backstabbers supporting gay marriage. And he did it by taking cover behind his son's skirts.
Portman isn't going to win re-election, as he's done nothing conservative or impressive. I'm all-in for defeating him in the primary.
If 'pubs lose the US Senate, so what? They've been horrible as a majority.
He is better than Portman the Uber Rino!
They won’t lose the Senate even if a few RINO’s fall. It is practically impossible to defeat a sitting Senator and the Democrats are already announcing retirements like mad. They know all too well that they are in the minority for the next two cycles at least.
The Republican nominee will win the Ohio Senate race. There is little chance that the Democrat base will be out in force to vote for Hitlary or Liawatha.
Portman lost me when he came out for homosexual marriage.
I wish Josh Mandel would challenge him but they are both establishment Republicans in the Ohio Party.
Portman is another Democrat in an R jersey and needs to be replaced with a real Republican.
Good...I hope he’ll win. Is he a state senator?
