Hundreds of sailboats, motor boats, sportsfishermen, all manned by civilians lacking military training, setting off to face the wrath of the NAZi juggernaught. Sailing because they were REQUESTED, not drafted. Sailing knowing they may well not return. The rescued over 300,000 of their fighting men, who eventually were the victorious in the war.
Question: Could that event have been the real turning point in the war that saw Nazi Germany defeated.
Our victory at MIDWAY was called “The Impossible Victory.”
I’d call Dunkirk “The Impossible success!”
