Rush was pointing out the other day that some of these candidates need to run as resume enhancers to remain high on the speaker’s tours, the media commentary lists, and on the advertisement name recognition charts. And there is the law that permits them to keep campaign donations.

So, apparently it has become a cottage industry. I heard ole Fred Thompson selling reverse mortgages at least twice just yesterday.

I think you're right about the resume enhancement idea. He seems to be using it much like the Sierra Club does, take advantage of the rubes and fleece them a bit.

I hope not too many evangelicals or socons take the bait. Like my anecdotal evidence suggests, I'd like it if he failed to catch fire in the slightest bit, not even a smolder.

Cottage industry? Yeah.

In WTF, I say that Huckabee’s decision in 2008 to stay in the whole way, even with ZERO chance of the nomination, was his “Fox News audition period.” Like Santorum, stayed in long enough to officially take “second place” - even though the only guy with a chance to beat McCain in 08 was Mitt - and the only guy with a chance to beat Mitt was Newt.
