Why is this guy considered a presidential contender? Could it possibly be pandering by the GOPe?

It’s a mystery to me. He was the FL Speaker of the House, so I guess he is used to cutting deals.
Because every time a blogger, a writer, or a Democrat politician calls the GOP the "white party", elected Republicans, Fox news, and (sadly) many otherwise sound conservatives start shaking in their boots.
Instead of drawing the obvious conclusions, they start to scurry around looking for a candidate - any candidate - who can bring in those mythical blacks and Hispanics who would vote Republican if, if, if, if only - the candidate himself were - black or Hispanic.
Instead of figuring out how to boost their share of the white vote from 57% to 63% - after which they would never lose another election - they continue to hunt unicorns.
Pathetic.
