Thanks to the Amtrak disaster, an op-ed that a friend and I have been working on is now suddenly relevant, so we're prepping it for submission to the Wall Street Journal. It's a proposal for privatization of Amtrak. I've been playing with various ideas for the past decade, and we think this one might be viable. My friend is the leading writer on the national parks and how passenger rail made them successful in their early days. He's a nationally known author, so we may have a shot at this.
