Johnny Depp, Amber Heard face death-row wait for pet dogs after dodging Australian quarantine

Hollywood star Johnny Depp will have his two pet dogs seized by Australian authorities and possibly put down after he failed to declare them on the an in-flight manifest.

The Department of Agriculture is investigating Depp after it emerged he was currently in Australia with his two Yorkshire terriers.

Officers from the Department of Agriculture have issued Depp and Heard with 48-hours notice to either remove the dogs voluntarily from the country or have them seized.

Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce said this morning the two pooches needed to return home.

“It doesn’t matter if Johnny Depp has been awarded sexiest man alive twice, it’s time Boo and Pistol bugger off home,” Mr Joyce said.

“Mr Depp has to either take his dogs back to California or we’re going to have to euthanise them,” he added.

Depp, 51, and his wife, actor and model Amber Heard, 29, flew back into Australia last month so he could resume filming on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales on the Gold Coast.

The couple flew into Brisbane on a private jet and were accompanied by their pets.

But the dogs were not declared as entering Australia under normal requirements and so will be seized by authorities and either shipped back to the US or euthanised.

Note, the dogs almost certainly will not be euthanised - unless they show signs of illness, Australian authorities generally allow people to remove their animals back to their country of origin at their own expense. But we have quarantine laws for a reason.

Reasoned or not, Australia has every right to devise the laws that address border issues. Outsiders should respect them.

If you disagree, don’t put your animal’s life on the line simply because you say you “Love them”.

Idiots...

Okay, but why are you going to kill Johnny and Amber?

The guy is worth half a billion dollars, at least until he gets divorced. He could sent them back to France or where ever he lives now on a private jet each and have them sleep in a doggie mansion with 24 hour minders. He’s almost Clinton rich.

Rules are only for the little people. These things are well understood here in ObamaLand.

I love doggies. Because I love doggies I have to side with the Australian authorities on this.

I lost an entire litter of champion line Doberman Pinscher pups to Parvo because a dimwit thought that quarantines were for other people.

I have no problem with Australia’s laws regarding this issue.

Government in action. Hundreds of thousands of filthy, diseased, murderous, throwback moslems who wipe with their hand and have never seen a toilet flood in. Jungle people from the Solomon islands fill boats and wander in. Government is utterly paralyzed and cannot decide what to do.

But let two of the best cared for yorkies on the planet arrive, dogs that have never probably walked off of carpet, and watch government swing into merciless action.

Typical

It was bad. The infected dog was a show dog and managed to infect just about every other dog there that day. Wiped out quite a few breeding lines completely.

I was lucky in that I didn't lose my female.

The best guess is probably after living in France for 20 years.

Are you aware of Australia’s current approach to ‘asylum seekers’?

In particular the fact that no boat arrivals have been allowed to even get to Australia for well over a year now? Instead the boats are turned back, or if that isn’t practical, the people are sent to off shore detention centres.

Our government is doing a lot more to try and keep inappropriate people out than most countries. It’s a bit easier for us because we don’t have a large land border to worry about (much easier to secure the seas than that is).

It’s not a perfect process but it’s not bad.

It’s one of the hazards of entering the show ring, sadly.
