Want to remove Huffington Post from your Google search results? Here’s how.

I do my best to avoid giving Huffington Post traffic, even when it’s linked here at Hot Air. There are a few reasons, a lot of it having to do with not wanting to underwrite Arianna Huffington’s politics. But one thing I really, really disagree with is HuffPo’s business model, which is to serve as an SEO — “search engine optimized” — pass-through to original content elsewhere on the Internet. Ed wrote a great post explaining the HuffPo/content/traffic tension after AOL acquired the site, and if you’re unfamiliar with how SEO works, check this out. In short, some of the most asinine HTML tricks can make an unremarkable website a top tier Google Search result, which means traffic and ad dollars. That’s what HuffPo specializes in.

I know this is an old article, but I thought I would pass it along....go to the link for more info.

I am searching for a way to block this liberal crap from my att/yahoo home page. Haven't found it yet.

Right now, the webFASCISTS at att/yahoo will let you block "subjects" but not necessarily "news sources"...so I continue to see the most biased bull**** headlines and conservative bashing...

The latest was something about Texas going insane with Tea Partiers.

Another was how the GOP was going to be in trouble if Obamacare dies.

Anyway, I'm sick of the bias, so am searching for workarounds to avoid even having to see the lies.

I am all for healthy discussion and debate, but the att/yahoo "news" headlines are nothing but vitriol and garbage. Garbage with a capital G.

So if anyone else has ideas, let me know.

God bless.

Google chrome now has an add-on that you can get called “Personal Blocklist”, where you can add any site you want and those sites will NOT come up on your search results.

If the information at the link is outdated (I couldn’t find a “block” button it refers to), then try that!

And maybe it is time att/yahoo got the same kind of tool!!

Google has recently made changes to reduce the presence of so called ‘content farms’ like www.ehow.com show up high in their searches.

You can confine the search to one or more specific sites, like

Ted Cruz site:freerepublic.com

Use the same technique to exclude sites like Huffington Post, like

Ted Cruz -site:huffington.com

Thanks for your post. I use Opera (since I quit Firefox over the crap treatment of Brian Eich). I’ll have to see if Opera has similar functionality.

Every time you try to look up a political story or fact the first 4 or 5 pages of results are from left-wing sources.

I basically means it’s using Google’s search engine to get the results, but prevents Google from tracking your IP address and search history.

Oh, thank you. That’s good to know. I only use Startpage but always wondered about that.

I’ve found the combination of Firefox, AdBlock Plus and Ghostery does an excellent job of preventing ads and stopping tracking.

I have been using duckduckgo.com for at least two years now. They do not track you or report your searches to anyone.
